PRC RGV: How We Can Help |
Abortion or Baby: Before You Decide |
Have Questions?
Do you do abortions?
No, we do not perform or refer for abortions but that doesn't mean you should not schedule an appointment. The abortion method available to you differs depending on how far along you are in your pregnancy. We can help you determine how far along you are and explain to you the different methods of abortion along with your other options. In addition, your counselor can schedule you for a free ultrasound, so that you can see your baby.
How soon can you tell I am pregnant?
Our FDA approved tests are 99.9% accurate 10-12 days after conception though this is different for every person. If you test negative at your first appointment but continue to have pregnancy symptoms, we recommend you come back for a retest in 2 weeks.
How much does it cost?
All services at PRC are free.
I have a medical concern, can you help? We are not a medical office. If you have an immediate medical concern, it would be best to see your doctor or go to the hospital for proper medical care.
What will my appointment be like?
During your first appointment, you will meet with one of our trained counselors who will ask some questions to get to know you and begin thinking about resources she may be able to provide you with. You'll then take a pregnancy test and meet again with the counselor to discuss your test result and further services we can offer. You are welcome to bring a friend or family member with you and he/she will be able to join you after your pregnancy test if you wish.
What do you mean, "I have options?"
We understand that not everyone intends to get pregnant. If you weren't planning this, you may not know what to do next. Some women think their only option is abortion. Some don't even know what abortion is. Our goal is to inform you about all of your options - parenting, adoption and abortion - and talk you through what you might be feeling. We won't push you either way...we just want you to be empowered to make the best decision for you and your unborn baby.
I already have a doctor or know I am pregnant, can i still come in?
Definitely! If a doctor has already confirmed your pregnancy, please bring proof (a form or ultrasound picture) with you to your first appointment. You will still meet with a trained counselor who will go over all of our services and determine what resources we can provide to you. If you don't have proof of your pregnancy to bring with you, we will ask you to take a pregnancy test onsite for our records.
I just had a baby, I need supplies, can you help?
Yes, our services are available throughout your pregnancy and until your child is two years of age. You are welcome to begin taking classes at any time to earn Baby Bucks to spend in our Baby Boutique on diapers, clothes, and many other items. Call to schedule your appointment to get started.
My girlfriend is pregnant, what do i do?
You should make an appointment for the two of you to come in. We encourage the father of the baby to attend classes, whenever possible, either individually or as a couple. We also offer Fatherhood classes and couples mentors to help you start off on the right foot.
